I guess this song is about stalking, I always thought it was about rape and how a rapist would try to claim the victim in some way emotionally, or physically. I always perceived it this way I could listen to this song without the chills. I finally listened to it for the first time in years and it still sounds that way to me.

Snow White Queen inspired me to write my poem Butterfly In A Jar because we (Amy Lee and I) both experienced being stalked by strangers. I cited my poem at the poetry slam and the audience was horrified as hell. It was worth it.

This song makes me think of an old friend, he wasn't a stalker but he was obsessed and possessive with me.. He would buy me anything but always wanted me to himself he hated sharing my company with friends or my boyfriend. He liked me since 10th grade and he always had a huge crush on me I use to be oblivious but everyone else knew. We we're best friends in 12th grade i stopped talking to him for 5 years bc of a rumor i heard about him plus he couldn't turn off his feelings i got back into contact with him i figured we're older now things change but it turned out old feelings came back he never got over me and still wanted me he never admitted it but everyone kept telling me how obsessed he was with me and that it was creepy and need to drop him.. he would treat me like his girlfriend and follow me everywhere and would always tell me how my boyfriend couldn't hang out..he was clingy too and needy to. I got sick of it and let him go for good bc after 9 years of knowing each other and 5 years of no contact he still couldn't let go and just be friends without being weird. I just never understood why he held onto me that way we never kissed or touched or anything i always made it clear that we were only ever going to be friends but he always wanted more even his friends thought he was off with me. Oh well. Good riddance to him.
