The Who did some mighty stuff, but this, as far as I'm concerned was the best. Saw them live when it came out, and from then on, this piece always gets me on the move. No arty-farty stuff.

  15. George

  23. mary k

I think this version of the song is the best version ever - far better than the original. What makes it so much better I don't even know. I guess you could say I "can't explain" why!

    Peter C

    Uhh...no.

    Dave Thompson

This is one of those rare tunes in that I like almost evert remake of it, by any band with real passion that gives it a try. None as good as these guys, of course. But I like them all, nonetheless. :)

  24. Brungers Band

Some of the best rock guitar performances ever, the last minute is pure onslaught 😵😵😵😎😎

  25. John Aita

  29. George Moore

    Zak Starkey good job.

    tunanorth

Have figure of all the young drummers in the world, he would be the least likely to have been "star struck" or intimidated at that first audition.

    GTMX GTMX

ZS : I’m the drummer for The Who and Oasis..... oh yeah, and my Dad was in The Beatles..... 👊🏻💥😂

    mary k

How many people think Zak is a better drummer than his Dad Ringo?

    Joe Santa Maria

mary k not one person, including himself.

  35. professorpsoop

Pulverizing! And yes, Pete has become a real lead guitar beast in latter times

  36. Bengali

    Shindig 1965 was better.

  37. Sean McAleavy

Fucken ay! That really rocked. Took me by surprise. I had just watched the original video for Join Together. I love that song but the video sucks shit. It's so phony. I hate it. Just Embarrassing. Then this came on and it was redemption!

  38. Miyuki Okumoto

    so powerful...

  39. Paul McEwan

Are the drums turned down in this mix?

  40. AshStrat1

  47. BRIERFOX

OH MY GOD!!!....the ENERGY....that comes through....on a damn computer screen!!!

  48. TROGULAR 10,000

are you fucking kidding me? i can't believe all the damn fools waxing enthusiastic about this shit when it's not half as good as the original. I mean basically they fuck up every part: Pete can't sing it, the groove is totally lacking, the short and sweet solo is modified totally losing the essence of the feel, it doesn't swing, you can't hear the toms that were such a part of the song.

    Bill Mayhew

Troglodite, don't you think you are being kind of a twat. Buzz kill MFer. This rocks bo.

    Lee Wood

There are places you can get your ears checked. I should make an appointment as soon as you can. The Who wipe every other band off the planet.

    Sean McAleavy

You are so wrong! The original is a great recording. A hit single! But The Who never ever sounded like that single recording. In fact, the backing vocals are done by an acapella group and the lead guitar was played by a young Jimmy Page when he worked as a studio musician. So a good percentage of the people on the record were'nt even in The Who. I can hear the bands soul in this version.

    David Crabtree

Yeah, I've heard better versions of it but it's still 3/4 of The Who and the kick was anyways. carry on.

    Ian Hallam

Yes, the original is superb. This version suffers from a Hammond Organ which should simply not be there. It adds nothing to the song, in fact it detracts from it.

  49. Paddy thereddog

We are the Mods, we are the Mods, we are, we are, we are the Mods!! =D

    winterlandboy

    WHO are you

    Jonathan Marth

    The Mods! Obviously.

    Louis Batsford

We are the oaps we are we are the oaps

  50. John Doe

It just can't get better than this. If Moon were there the whole building would have COLLAPSED.

    Bruno Anjuna

    literally

    Sketchy Tapes

    literally

    William Oliveaux

    literally

    Will Knox

Probably cause he'dve blown it up with cherry bombs

    Jeff Panetta

    Pretty sure it wouldn’t of

  51. Uboat Militaria

    Awesome set list!!!

  52. bill koehler

yeah, Pete's a much better guitar player in his later days...

    Sean McAleavy

People will believe what they want to believe. All the information that we, the people, received during that whole scandal, was colored by sensationalism and celebrity. In his book, he didn't address the issue atlength, but pointed you in a direction where you could research the info for yourself. The cops who worked on the case even believe him to be innocent of the charges. But you don't see the Media clambering to report that story.

    gmlasam

@bill koehler.... I strongly disagree... Pete wrote many classic guitar riffs in his younger days. His guitar work in Live at Leeds is a guitar player's handbook... Do you play guitar bill koehler?

    Tate Thompson

He's more polished and precise, yes but better? Eh, I'd say most fans such as myself prefer '68 to 'late 70's when he used Hiwatt stacks, SG Specials and Les Paul Deluxes. His playing was wild, untamed and his leads were off the cuff sloppy and ready to run off the rails at any second but somehow he brought it back in. These days with a Stratocaster he's very lazy, less lead work and just wails on the tremolo bar instead of coming up some creative lick off the cuff.

  53. JAVIER THE LEGEND

CAN"T   EXPLAIN  -    ROGER   DALTREY  -  PETE   TOWNSHEND  -  THE  WHOLIVE    AT   THE   ROYAL   ALBERT   HALL

    JAVIER THE LEGEND

  54. Priscila de Castro

    I lost this dvd

  55. HenrikGMZ

El bueno de Pete ! jaja

  56. Garetphelps

Another prime example of John Endwistle's excellent showmanship. ;)...As if he needed showmanship. He was already too badass standing there staring at his fretboad...

    Enemy Spotted

    Garetphelps should we tell him?

  57. Thomas Park

I was at this concert when I was 7! So lucky to have gone there!! I just noticed after watching one of the earlier performances of this song, that they use more distortion on this version. There is one positive thing in my opinion that has evolved in rock and that is the increase in distortion! This is probably the best version of this song!!!

  58. PTPOP

I that Zak Starkey on drums.

  59. Mister HackySack

Notice how this video only has two dislikes. And you know what? Those two are probably Justin Bieber and Katy Perry!

  60. Profiledek

    Townshend gets me chills.

  61. Brian Peacock

Saw The Who 1976 in Glasgow as a15 yr old. Goosebumps then and now. Saw many bands but none came close to these guys....

  62. diogenesagogo

Townshend looks to be the most dangerous man on the planet. Like a lightning conductor channeling energy straight from the Big Bang.

  63. Derrick Vanier

John Entwistle is there so maybe 2000

  64. winterlandboy

Well there's a man wh looked after himself but luck and good genes play a part.I mean look at Keith. The geezer Shoukdnt be here with the life he lead..as you all know

  65. The Illuminator

Roger Daltrey is now 69, for your knowledge.

  66. MrHarryHess

who ever said you are too old to rock and roll was wrong.

  67. David Statman

    Holy shit, Pete.

  68. Ethan Hubbard

  69. Juan Trip

Ringo's son is a bit of the Myth.

  71. modo03

He was actually 56 at this point!Looks great for it eh?

  72. winterlandboy

I do realise that I got the year wrong btw,but was referring to Daltry looking and sounding great at age 67 or whatever he is.I see why you pulled me up on however.

  73. winterlandboy

Yes..I am awaure of that.I was referring to Daltry.See the top comment by VexorxStudios? Well I replied to that. Thanks

  77. winterlandboy

    Not true.Check you facts.It's 8

  78. winterlandboy

The drummer is Ringo Starrs son Zak..who also drummed with Oasis for a while.

  79. winterlandboy

If this was from 2007,he would have been 62-63 there. The guy is in amazing shape and still is.

  80. winterlandboy

Daltry is incredible for a guy of his age ..or any age.I fear that one day he's gonna knock himself out with that mic. though

  81. winterlandboy

Yeah, absolutely .Townsend doesn't seem to be too interested in re creating the original sound of his music. I wonder what the Quadrophenia tour will sound like when it kicks off.

  82. solarwave

Wow! That's how it's done boys.

  83. Gregor Sinclair

    Daltrey looks SOOO young here!

  84. dNk1WolF

2 people are justin bieber fans! XD

  85. Mr Tiddles

What bass is Entwistle playing in this?

  86. Juan Trip

Drummer's fuQing GOOD (rare nowadays) but why are they dressed like going to the office? ... haha :)

  87. DarkeningSkies1

@rajbeast They were really on at the Albert Hall, no doubt. Nice that the Ox got to go out on a high note those last two years of performances.

  88. fahnfieldfilms

Zak Starkey is a freaking monster!

  89. Александр Гуров

was there ever a better rock band?

  90. Zachary Nabors

How fitting that only Ringo Starr's son could come close to what Keith did on this song. Excellent drumming going on here.

  91. Robin Campbell

    @Vilsoncrespo No Zak Starkey

  92. peter barton

@LilBVB Man thats funny how many people you pissed off with your comment, I can tell you are not serious though and it only took me about a year to do it.

  97. Robin Campbell

@felorobotoscope Pete Townsend is still in The Who.

  98. Sunn Burn

Over the years, Daltrey's voice has at times been a hit or miss proposition. He sounds pretty good here.
